Coomera river and Family time

Mum and Sol having a snuggle

Saturday fourth of June 2022

We headed out mid morning to make our way up to Coomera River to the Gold Coast marina. Nola plotted the route, with over the 50 way points, as the marina is about 10 nautical miles up The river from the head.

My goodness the houses, the mansions, the docks, the boats on the docks, there’s so much wealth up here, the trip up the river, although there was lots of other craft was pretty straightforward plenty of depth and lots of Markers. The worst part of the whole lot was the anticipation that when we got there we were going to have to navigate our way into the pen. Still a challenge even though we have done it lots of times. . About five minutes out Nola rang the marina and Found that they had moved us, to one closer in, which added further to the anxiety. We were amazed by how many huge super yachts were up the river, moored up to houses or in the various marinas that line the rivers edge. Up near the Gold Coast marina is very congested with moorings, boats, motor boats, and more boats. We found our entrance and found the finger for a pen, but there was a large trawler in the booth before ours that made access to ours very tight, with no room to turn at the end. I thought this is probably a good chance for me to prove my worth and took the controls and after a few Valium, blood pressure tablets, drinks of alcohol and reacquaintance with God, backed our girl through the various bows into a berth without hitting anything. Definitely lots of luck. The berth was excellent, with lots of room, close to the ramp, exactly what we needed.

Fantastic maneuvering Rick to get us safely docked amongst these big guys

Once we got our girl tied up Nola headed up to the office and got us a toilet key, car pass and half a dozen free hats, what more do you need. The guy in the trawler had returned and presented us with a bag of fresh prawns- welcome to Queensland.

We made arrangements for Ty to come and get us, we were really looking forward to catching up with them after all this time.

After securing the boat, Mitch and Ty picked us up and we headed over to their place via Coleses and the alcohol shop. We had awesome Prawn pizzas for dinner

Saturday 4th June - 22nd June 2022

We had a delightful time in Coomera with Mitch and Tyla, Nan and Adam and Hannah who came up from Melbourne to join us. Lots of lovely food, spas, card games, movies, more food, thanks very much for having us Mitch and Tyla we will be back!

We also managed to get some boat works done and finally got a mechanic to look at the heat exchangers, who also did a service on the motors. There is so many trades associated with boats in Coomera, with many specializing in unique parts of boating. What we learned is that this whole area is in a great growth spurt, with lots more being added and major extension plans. It’s very friendly and so convenient.

Gold Coast City Marina had great services and were very friendly. They also have a fantastic café that we frequented.

We made inquiries about storing Nauti Kitty over the summer, and it looks like we will be pulling her out of the water and putting her on the hard for a few months over Christmas while we head back to Sandy Point and catch up with those back down south.
