Finally back on the water

File_037.jpeg

The day began with a nervous flutter as we were heading out on Nauti Kitty for the first time in Months and just exiting the Marina is quite a feat with strong winds pushing us onto the dock and millions of dollars in yachts surrounding us. It wasn’t the prettiest exit nor the smoothest but hey any exit without hitting anything is a win in my book!

Just as we were completing our run out of the mouth of the Yarra Rick realized he was due on a work call so he was busy explaining the unusual background noises while I decided to raise the sails single handed for the first time. All went reasonably well although a bit noisy as the sails flung about til I managed to get them set and steer us on our way.

We had a good breeze of around 14 knots and made way at 5.5 knots but sadly only made it 3/4 of the way under sail until wind completely died and the motors were turned back on.

We set anchor just off the PortArlington foreshore and Rick made short work or catching us a feed of flatties which we had for dinner. This is the life we crave.

We spent the next couple of days enjoying magnificent sunsets and sunrises, fishing, taking Ella ashore for walks and getting the boat in order to pick up Mum for a few days of sailing. It will be her first time at the age of 87!!! here’s hoping the weather is as calm as predicted
