Blue pool

Horseshoe bay

Monday 11 th April

Oh my god the sun is out. It’s warm. The world is a beautiful place. Let’s go for a walk.

First things first.  We needed to attach a second stern line to cut out the thump due to passing boats and their wake.  Most are very careful and stick to the 4 kn limit , but with the nicer weather the sports boats and fishing charters are out early.  Easy fix with a second stern line.

Today the weather was expected to turn wet after lunch so we headed south around the coast.  The other Cat in the harbour (two x’s) was refuelling about to  head north and  a monohull heading south.  The winds were expected to be from the south and modest with a 2-3 m swell.  At the Entrance  the swell was very evident, but no chop and it was interesting to watch the cat head out.  Good job but glad it was them.  The Enterance here is deceptive, with the flat water close to the north wall.  Most of the waves dissipate leaving a flat passage except for the really biggies, but it all looks big at the water level and takes nerves to stay close to the north wall before turning.

Also horseshoe bay

We walked the coast past horseshoe bay around the headland and onto the blue pool.   Caught up with Phillip, a local whose great grandparents were settlers here in the 1840s, he gave us lots of interesting information about the local settlement and history and concern about how it is changing with the big $ coming in from the north.  He liked the fact that we had sailed in and knew of our boat.

Blue Pool

The blue pool is a salt water pool right on the cliff filled by the waves.  It was very impressive and definitely a place we will come back to in better weather.  But now.  It was about to rain. So we headed to brunch and back to the boat.

Boat jobs and work on the cards

Good adventure day again.  Bermi. (As the locals call it) is a lovely spot with lots of history and lots to do.  Glad we are staying a while longer
